A few items this week..

Sunday: Relief Society and Priesthood meetings will be combined (meet in the chapel).  There will be speakers about emergency preparedness.  It will be great experience!
Memorial Day, May 31: Monday there will be a ward breakfast from 8 am to 10 am at the church house.  Start your holiday off right with a yummy breakfast!
June 4-5: Friday night to Saturday is the Father's and Son's Camp out. Start packing your tents, sleeping bags and blankets! (as a side note, the ward camp out will be July 9th)

Be Prepared this week!

Thursday, May 20th: This week's big news is the Relief Society Meeting about Emergency Preparedness!  You've heard the counsel and warnings to be prepared and now is your chance to get something done about it.  Thursday, May 20th at 7:00 pm at the Church house we will be meeting to lean more about how to be prepared for emergencies, we'll be giving you some items to put in your 72 hour kit, and giving demonstrations on items you can put in your 72 hr kit that are cheap to make but will have a huge benefit to you!  Make sure you come! Also, if you would like order a starter kit for your 72 hr kit (click here for a previous post that explains all about the kit) you need to email le.tigerlily@gmail.com TODAY (Tues, May 18th).

Family Cannery- In May the Ogden Cannery is letting families (aged 16 and older) make appointments to can Cooked Chicken (14.4 oz can), the cost is $1.65/can or for a case of 24 cans $39.60 (limit of 4).  At this time they do not accept debit or credit cards.  Also, the USDA will not allow you to take the cans home that day, there is a waiting period so when you're done canning the Cannery will give you a pick up date.  Call the Cannery at 801-399-3723 to make an appointment for your family.  The dates and times they have available are:
    • Tuesday - Thursday
      • May 11-13
      • May 18-20
      • May 25-27
    • Shifts:
      • 8:00 am - 10:30 am
      • 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
      • 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm
      • 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Temple Day, Futsal, 72 hr kits & Cannery

This week we have Ward Temple Day and Women's Futsal.
  • Thursday, May 13: Ward Temple Day.  Please try to find time to go to the Temple this Thursday.  If you can't make it Thursday, try for sometime this week.  The normal session is still the 6:30 pm session and there will be a nursery at the church house at 6:00 pm.
  • Thursday, May 13: Women's Futsal game at the 15/16 bldg at 7:30 pm.
  • Sunday, May 16: Relief Society Lesson- Gospel Principles #10: Scriptures
Upcoming events: These have a lot of information with them but it's well worth your time to check it out... you don't want to miss anything!

  • 72 hr kits- Elder L. Tom Perry said "The principle of self-reliance is spiritual as well as temporal. It is not a doomsday program; it is something to be practiced each and every day of our lives. May we continue to hold fast to the eternal truths of self-reliance"  On May 20th there will be a Relief Society Meeting.  We will be making and getting items for our 72 hour kits, so bring your backpack and get ready to start adding items to your kits.  We will also have a speaker on Emergency Preparedness and demonstrations on other items you can make/get for your kits.  So come and get a start to your 72 hour kits.  If you haven't started a kit yet- we're offering starter kits.  These come from Be Prepared (click on the name to go to their website) and we will be picking them up to save on shipping.  There are 2 bottle kits available, the basic kit (about $12.00) and the deluxe kit (about $17.00), the deluxe kit is pictured below.
    • To order kits you can either sign up on the next two Sundays in Relief Society or you can email le.tigerlily@gmail.com.  Make sure you include your name, phone number, the number of kits and which kit you want.
    • The basic kit ($12.00) has:
      • Rain Poncho
      • Hand / Body Warmer
      • Emergency blanket
      • 5-in-1 whistle
      • Flashlight and batteries
      • Water bottle
    • The deluxe kit ($17.00) has:
      • All contents of the basic kit
      • Multi-use knife
      • Basic first aid kit (bandaids, antiseptic wipes, etc)
