Visiting Teaching Reminder and Announcements

Sisters,

One more week to complete October Visiting Teaching! Don't forget to report to your supervisor. She needs to get a call from you, whether or not you visited this month.

A Red Cross Blood Drive sign up sheet was passed around. If you didn't have the chance to sign up, and would like to, contact Lael for details.

We will be playing volleyball this Wednesday, at 7 pm at the 15th/16th ward building. Coed volleyball is at 8 pm.

We had a excellent lesson by Sister Casperson this week on Elder Eyring's Ensign talk, "Help Them On Their Way Home." We talked about how Heavenly Father set up a system of rescuers in life to help us on our way. This system is not limited to the atonement. We all have a calling to help rescue those in need, especially in the formative young years in life.

"Of all the help we can give these young people, the greatest will be to let them feel our confidence that they are on the path home to God and that they can make it. And we do that best by going with them. Because the path is steep and sometimes rocky, they will at times feel discouraged and even stumble. They may at times become confused about their destination and wander after less eternally important goals. These inspired programs make that less likely because they will lead the young person to invite and receive the companionship of the Holy Ghost."

Wed, Oct 20 Women's Volleyball 7 p.m. at the 15th/16th ward building

This Sat, Oct 23 Super Saturday 9-12, craft activities at the church. Even if you didn't sign up for a craft, come and say hello and help tie quilts. Lunch is at noon -- chili with cornbread and pie for dessert. If you are willing to help with food, you can still sign up to bring cornbread or chili, Call Susan Newbrand at 753-5460. If you have questions about the crafts, call Li Jensen at 890-8007.

Repentance Lesson

We had a wonderful discussion yesterday in RS led by Lauren Guevara. The lesson was from the Gospel Principles Manual on repentance, but we talked mostly about what it meant to have Godly sorrow that leads to repentance, and eventually to joy.

Do you think of repentance as a thing of joy? Is that hard to do? Do you think repentance comes naturally, or is Christian repentance something that has to be learned?

I know the hour wasn't long enough to get all the great comments in. If you have anything to add, feel free to add it to the comments.

General Relief Society Meeting is Saturday, September 25. The session will be broadcast at 6 p.m. at the 15th/16th ward building (600 N 100 W). No dinner will be served at the broadcast this year.

Fast Sunday will be held this Sunday, September 26, due to General Conference the following week.

There will be no Volleyball on Wednesday. They are refinishing the gym floor.

Only a few more weeks to donate to the school kit program. See below for items we still need.
Bring you items to church, or to a member of the Relief Society presidency.

Day of Culture and Brotherhood Saturday, September 25, 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m.
You are invited to a day of Culture and Brotherhood on the grounds of the Logan Tabernacle. Brothers and Sisters from the Hispanic wards and branches throughout Cache Valley invite all to an event celebrating their culture, food, crafts, and enterainment. This day of brotherhood will conclude with a fireside with Elder Rodolfo Franco of the Seventy at 3:00 p.m. in the Tabernacle.

In conjunction with this celebration the beautiful photographic art work of "Reflections of Christ" will be on display in the old roller-rink just east of the Tabernacle square on Thursday and Friday, from 10:00 noon- 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Food Drive
Members of the Church in Utah are invited to join with others in donating non-perishable food items to the Utah Food Bank or local hunger relief agencies as part of the Alliance for Unity Food Drive scheduled for September 25, 2010. Grocery bags will not be distributed with newspapers as in past years. Therefore, any bag, box, or container may be used for food donations. High protein items such as canned meats or fish, chili, or peanut butter are especially appreciated.

Early Headstart (preschool) is accepting applications. Information and applications can be found at the Headstart building, just east of the Aquatic Center. Eligibility is tied to income.

Round Robin and Super Saturday

THIS THURSDAY, September 16, is the "Round Robin" Relief Society Activity. It is at the church, 7-8 p.m. A nursery will be provided. You can choose to attend two of the four classes taught during the evening. The classes will be 30 minutes each and taught simultaneously at 7:00 and again at 7:30 p.m. The classes offered will be "Making a Spiritual Home," "Penny Pinching," "Interior Decorating," and "Canning." No sign up necessary, just come!

Don't forget to mark your calendars for Ward Service Day, October 9.

SUPER SATURDAY will be October 23, 9 a.m. The committee has some great plans, and really fun crafts. It is a good chance to have some fun, invite friends who need an introduction to Relief Society, and to get to know our sister. Lunch will be served 12-1 p.m. Sign ups for crafts will be at church starting next Sunday.

School Kits

We are still gathering supplies for school kits. We still need donations of the following:

- 7-inch colored pencils (approx. 12 per box)
- 12 inch straight edge rulers with metrics
- pencil sharpeners
- glued or spiral notebooks (lined) to equal approximately 450 sheets

You can bring these to church or give them to a member of the Relief Society presidency. We also need volunteers to sew a simple bag for the kits. We'll be putting the kits together during Ward Service Day on October 9.

• Womens' and coed volleyball begin Sept. 15. The womens' game is at 7 p.m. at the 15th/16th Ward building, and the coed game begins at 8 p.m. Games continue every Wednesday through October 20th. Come for some exercise and fun!

• We are collecting supplies for school kits. We need volunteers to sew bags for the kits. More information will be coming.

• Mark your calendar! Ward Service Day is Sat., Oct. 9. The whole ward will be completing some projects for people in need, and having a meal after. It is a lot of fun, a great way to get to know people in the area, and a wonderful way to serve our neighborhood.

July 22nd: Relief Society Enrichment. We're inviting kids, husbands, friends and neighbors! We'll be meeting at the trail head of the River Parkway at 7:00 pm. Please park in the parking lot to avoid damage to your cars. The parking lot is on Hwy 89 on the right (west) side of the road. Walk the trail at your own pace, and enjoy the beauties of the world and the society of others. The trail is a total of 1.7 miles, so feel free to turn around at any time. Afterward, at 8:00 pm, we will meet back at the Gilberts house for cobbler and ice cream. It'll be yummy!
-July 24th: The annual Stake Pioneer Day Breakfast at the Willow Valley Pavilion! Come enjoy the perfect way to start your Pioneer Day. Breakfast starts at 7:00 am. After breakfast at 9:00 am there will be a Primary Parade around the stake house so come with your bikes, wagons or scooters decked out in the best Pioneer decoration you've got. It's always fun!

TONIGHT!! is the ward swim party at the Logan Aquatic Center (451 South 500 West) from 7:15 to 9:30 pm. It is FREE to get in so make sure you come cool off and enjoy the pool and treats. Don't forget your sunscreen.

Remember your tents, sleeping bags, bug spray and be ready for lots of fun!! Breakfast will be provided in the morning.

Beginning Photography Class!

Thursday, June 17th: Beginning Photography Class. 7:00 pm at the church. Jeremi and Li are going to team teach a class on beginning photography, come learn the best ways to pose families and kids, how to take action shots, use natural lighting and what colors look best outside. Come with all your questions and be prepared for a lot of information! If you'd like, bring your camera to practice on and ask questions. Nursery is provided and refreshments afterward. It's not a class you want to miss!!

She knows so much about plants, growing cycles, and the best way to maximize your gardening space. Come ask her your questions you've been wondering to help your yard because your ideal paradise.

Memorial Day, May 31: Monday there will be a ward breakfast from 8 am to 10 am at the church house. Start your holiday off right with a yummy breakfast!
June 4-5: Friday night to Saturday is the Father's and Son's Camp out. Start packing your tents, sleeping bags and blankets! (as a side note, the ward camp out will be July 9th)

Thursday, May 20th: This week's big news is the Relief Society Meeting about Emergency Preparedness! You've heard the counsel and warnings to be prepared and now is your chance to get something done about it. Thursday, May 20th at 7:00 pm at the Church house we will be meeting to lean more about how to be prepared for emergencies, we'll be giving you some items to put in your 72 hour kit, and giving demonstrations on items you can put in your 72 hr kit that are cheap to make but will have a huge benefit to you! Make sure you come! Also, if you would like order a starter kit for your 72 hr kit (click here for a previous post that explains all about the kit) you need to email le.tigerlily@gmail.com TODAY (Tues, May 18th).

Family Cannery- In May the Ogden Cannery is letting families (aged 16 and older) make appointments to can Cooked Chicken (14.4 oz can), the cost is $1.65/can or for a case of 24 cans $39.60 (limit of 4). At this time they do not accept debit or credit cards. Also, the USDA will not allow you to take the cans home that day, there is a waiting period so when you're done canning the Cannery will give you a pick up date. Call the Cannery at 801-399-3723 to make an appointment for your family. The dates and times they have available are:

We will be making and getting items for our 72 hour kits, so bring your backpack and get ready to start adding items to your kits. We will also have a speaker on Emergency Preparedness and demonstrations on other items you can make/get for your kits. So come and get a start to your 72 hour kits. If you haven't started a kit yet- we're offering starter kits. These come from Be Prepared (click on the name to go to their website) and we will be picking them up to save on shipping. There are 2 bottle kits available, the basic kit (about $12.00) and the deluxe kit (about $17.00), the deluxe kit is pictured below.

To order kits you can either sign up on the next two Sundays in Relief Society or you can email le.tigerlily@gmail.com. Make sure you include your name, phone number, the number of kits and which kit you want.

It's the last week in April, and we have a few activities coming up, you've seen them previewed for awhile now and now it's time to actually get to do these activities!! yay!!

April 29- Thursday there will be a Relief Society Networking Night. This will be at the church at 7:00 pm and will be for anyone who is looking to connect with other women who have similar interests. Whether you're interested in sports, family history, sewing, cooking, scrapbooking, reading, or walking we'll be getting groups together to do community activities. Come meet new people who have the same interests as you, it'll be a springboard to more socializing and having fun. There will be games and refreshments after we learn about networking.

So check it out so you don't miss an activity you'd be interested it!!

April 29- Women's Futsal Game at the 15/16 bldg at 8:30 pm come help our team win!!
May 1-2 Stake Conference. The adult evening session will be in the 15/16 bldg at 7:00 pm. The Sunday session will be at the Tabernacle at 10:00 am. Make sure you come to see who the new Stake President and show them your support.

Family Cannery- In May the Ogden Cannery is letting families (aged 16 and older) make appointments to can Cooked Chicken (14.4 oz can), the cost is $1.65/can or for a case of 24 cans $39.60 (limit of 4). At this time they do not accept debit or credit cards. Also, the USDA will not allow you to take the cans home that day, there is a waiting period so when you're done canning the Cannery will give you a pick up date. Call the Cannery at 801-399-3723 to make an appointment for your family. The dates and times they have available are:

April 22- Women's futsal (indoor soccer) is playing at the 15/16 bldg at 7:30 pm come help us win!
April 24- Saturday there is a beaded watch activity (this is a community activity, read below for more info on what a community activity is!). If you're interested in learning or making beaded watchbands come hang out with us! If you want to go to Beadles and get help picking out the perfect beads, meet at Lori's house (email le.tigerlily@gmail.com of if you need directions) at 1:00 pm. We'll carpool to the store and each get our own beads. If you already have the beads, you just need help organizing and putting them together meet at Celia's house at 2:00 pm.
April 25- It's fast Sunday because of Stake Conference next week. The Relief Society lesson will be from the Nov. 2009 Ensign talk by Pres. Uchdorf "Two Principles for Any Economy".

It will be a uplifting, and wonderful morning. The seminar is at the Logan Institute from 9 am to 1 pm Meet at the church by 8:45 to carpool up to the Institute.
April 25th (Sun): Fast Sunday, the following week will be Stake Conference so we're having fast Sunday early.
April 29th (Thur): Ward Relief Society Meeting: This activity will be a smorgasbord of activities. It will be a night to network with other women who have similar interests. It will be at 7 pm at the church house. Don't forget it! It'll be the perfect night to get to know more people who have similar interests you do!
May 1-2 (Sat/Sun): Stake Conference. Saturday will be the adult session at 7 pm and on Sunday the session will be for everyone. We will be getting a new Stake President so make sure you come show your support!

This week is full of activities, so much fun going around, it's going to be fabulous!

Wednesday, March 17th: Not only is it St. Patrick's Day but there is a Single Mother's Seminar in Brigham City at the BATC at 6:00 pm. This is a great seminar to find out ways to get help with school and with job opportunities.
Thursday, March 18th: Relief Society Birthday Commemoration, at the church starting at 6:00 pm. The theme of the night is Crossroads in Life. Please try to arrive a little early since there are speakers first. Dinner and Nursery are provided!! Please come to socialize, be uplifted and enjoy great food!
Friday, March 19th: Primary Teacher Appreciation Dinner: This is for all primary, nursery teachers and their spouses. Dinner will be at 6:00 pm at the church
Sunday, March 21st: Relief Society lesson is Gospel Principles #6: The fall of Adam and Eve.

There are some other activities coming up in the future, so here they are so you don't forget about them.

Temple Night, RS, Primary and YW activities coming up!

Thursday, March 11, is Ward Temple Night, and with a nursery provided at the church from 6:00 pm, this is a great time for a wonderful date night! The session our ward is going to is the 6:30 pm session (be in the temple chapel before then) but if you can't make it to that session, please try to make it to another time.

Visiting Teaching: As this is the season for so many people to be sick, not feeling well, or out of town- we wanted to remind you about visiting teaching. If you're not able to make an appointment with the sisters you visit, please try to call or even leave them a note: This counts as visiting teaching, and helps you to keep in touch with your sisters. So even if you can't meet with your sisters, you can still check on them, make a contact and let them know you are thinking of them. Please continue to try to meet with your sisters, but know that if you're not able to meet them personally it still counts towards visiting teaching if you call, or leave a note. The purpose of visiting teaching is to let the sisters know you care about and love them. Thanks!!

Hey Elders.

Here is a highlight from our quorum lesson on Sunday. We hope to use it as a sort of theme for the month of February. Share it with your families and friends. Go over the talk with them together if you want. It comes from Jeffrey R. Holland's talk, "The Best is Yet to Be" in the last conference edition of the Ensign.

Sunday Lesson: Relief Society and Priesthood are combined. Bro. Hines will be talking about Family and Marriage Relations. He is a family counselor by profession, and has a fun, witty, and insightful look at life. It will be an excellent lesson!
Special Fireside: The fireside is at 6 pm at the 15/16 building, it will be on texting, internet and media safety. This is for all adults and mutual aged teens.

There are a number of activities going on in the next week or so, and we want to keep you informed about all of it so here goes!

Young Women's Act: Tonight the young women are combined with the young men for their activity. Meet at the the church at 6:30 pm.
Game Night for RS: Thursday Night (Jan 21) there will be a game, 7:00 pm at the church. A Nursery will be provided by the Elders, so come play a variety of games and have fun socializing and laughing! Invite your friends and neighbors, the more the merrier!

Logan Temple Opening: The Logan Temple will re-open on Jan. 26 (Tue)

Below that are a number of links (including a link to the home teaching message for the month) and other church sponsored or related sites. If you have never visited the church's Family Search site or the Mormon Channel, check them out. They are pretty neat.

On the right, you can search the blog to find past posts. Below each post, there is a "Comments" link where you can leave your suggestions, ideas, or anything else you choose to share. The Relief Society includes monthly calenders in their posts as well which you might review for upcoming events and dates. In the future, there may be an Elder's Quorum specific calender for the men.

As the new year approaches we want to remind everyone that our church meeting schedule will change. Beginning Jan. 3rd we will no longer be meeting at 9:00 am, we will begin at 12:30 pm. Here is an outline of the church meeting:

Tomorrow (Thur. Dec 17) there will be a Relief Society Meeting of Christmas Caroling. Here's the schedule:

6:00 pm Meet at the church house for a mini-lesson on singing by Lanae. It'll be awesome and great to get some tips.
7:00 pm Caroling around the neighborhoods. Dress warm and bring your voices to share the Christmas spirit with others! What could be better than sharing time with friends and enjoying the true meaning of Christmas through song?

Week of Nov. 30 - Dec. 6 2009:

Friday, Dec. 4th: The ward Christmas Party will start at 6:00 pm at the church house. There will be a dinner and then a program afterward. And a special guest for the kids after! Come enjoy the food, songs, and fun!
Saturday, Dec. 5th: "Help Your Neighbor Day" food drive is this Saturday. Paper sacks will be sent out in the newspaper but any plastic or paper bag can be used. Non-perishable high protein items (canned meat, fish, peanut butter) are greatly needed. The scouts will be picking the bags up starting at 9:00 am.
Sunday, Dec. 6th: Relief Society Lesson will be by one of the presidency.
Sunday, Dec. 6th: The First Presidency Christmas Devotional will be broadcast at the 15/16 building at 6:00 pm. There will be a Stake Open house afterward at 7:00 pm. Invite your neighbors and friends to come enjoy the message, food and socializing. Sunday Dress.
Misc: 'Tis the season for family, parties, fun, snow, and stress. We wish you can all enjoy the season and remember the true meaning of Christmas- The birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. Please also remember your visiting teaching sisters, it's important to at least contact them in this busy season, let them know of your love for them as well as the Savior's at this time. Thanks!

Thursday Nov. 19: Recipe swap at the church! 7-8pm, bring your favorite recipe and get other people's favorite recipe! It's a great way to boost your cookbook and learn new recipes to try. If you are able, bring a sample of the food from your recipe so others can taste it, but if you can't... don't worry! Just bring the recipe and swap away!
Saturday Nov. 21: Women's Regional Volleyball Tournament. 8:00 am at the Providence Stake Center. Come help our team win! Please be there before 7:50 am. Go team!!
Sunday Nov. 22: The lesson this week will be from the November 2009 Ensign: "More Diligent and Concerned at Home" by Elder David A. Bednar.

Vote Today! It's always important to vote for local officials, so make sure you get out today sometime to vote!

Super Saturday: The time has finally come! Super Saturday is this week! Come to the church house Saturday (Nov. 7th) from 9 am to 1 pm. If you can't come for the whole time, come whenever you can make it! Lunch is at 12:00 pm so make sure you set aside that time! Nursery is provided! There are so many things planned for Saturday, there's something for everyone! You can pick and choose your day, to make it the best for you! Here's a list of what you can choose from:

Free Crafts!! Come make some bath salts, a brag book and pick up a Family Proclamation on vellum.
Classes: 10:00 am- Feeling good, looking good: it'll be a great class about making the most of yourself and enjoying life! 11:00 am- Organizing your Finances: If you had an emergency and couldn't get to your finances, would your family know where to look and what to do? Come learn about being prepared financially!
Lunch: 12:00 pm Need I really say more? Yumm!
Quilts: Know how to tie quilts? Wanted to know how? Like to tie quilts? Well then come help us finish up some quilts we can send to the humanitarian aid center! It's always fun and we always need the help!
Place to finish up projects: Hesitant to start new crafts when you already have a few you've started? Bring them along and work on them while socializing!
Crafts: If you've signed up to make a few crafts, come work on them with others!
Gift Ideas: Looking for some gift ideas that aren't going to break the budget? Check out the gift idea table for instructions on gifts you can make for family, co-workers, neighbors and friends!
Socializing! What could be better than meeting and talking to new people who are interested in the same things as you? Come make new friends, chat with old ones, and just have fun with the women in the neighborhood!

COME COME COME!! We'd love to see you! Yes, you!! You won't be dissappointed. :D

Oct. 26th- SOO much going on!!

Dinner Groups: If you signed up to be in dinner group for this week, you should have received a call about the day and time, if not... call Kaylynn or leave a message here and we'll let you know! It'll be fun to meet new people and to have a yummy meal!
Visiting Teaching: Only a few days left for visiting teaching, the sisters you're visiting need your love and messages. So don't forget to go see them and wish them a Happy Halloween, and then report to your supervisor!
Help needed: We are still in need of Holiday traditions/memories to put in the November Common Bond. PLEASE email le.tigerlily@gmail.com by Wednesday night, a tradition you have, it doesn't need to be long (few sentences) but we do want to hear from you! Help us fill out the sheet!!
Halloween: Please have a safe and spooky night!
Daylight Savings: Daylight savings time ends at 2 am on Sunday, so don't forget to catch an extra hour of sleep! Yay!! And we hope your kids sleep in an hour too.
Super Saturday: Sunday will be the last day to sign up for any crafts. It's also the day we need you to pay either Kaylynn or Mindi (in cash, please). Super Saturday will be a week from Saturday (Nov. 7) and it is going to be a great day for socializing, learning new things, and of course, eating yummy food! Make sure it's on your calendar!

Just a note on the happenings for this week-

Thursday Oct. 22: Parenting Tips by Sis. Latham (her husband is the author of The Power of Positive Parenting) at the church in the relief society room from 7-8 pm. It will start on time so get there a little early. She will be teach us a few things about positive parenting and then will be answering questions.There will be a nursery provided! And refreshments afterward.

Saturday Oct. 24: Adult session for Stake Conference at 6:30pm at the 15/16 bldg (125 W 600 N). This meeting is for all stake members 18 and older.

Sunday Oct. 25: General session via satellite at 10:00 am at the 15/16 bldg (125 W 600 N)

Super Saturday: The countdown is happening, just over 2 more weeks until the 7th! We have a ton of fun things happening: classes (finance and Look good/feel good), lunch, free crafts, other crafts, place to finish previous crafts, gift ideas, and a nursery will be provided! So check out the previous blogs about crafts you can sign up for (use the labels on the right side) and let anyone in the enrichment committee or relief society presidency know if you want to sign up! And don't forget to mark your calendar!!

Thursday, Oct. 15: Enrichment activity at the church from 7-8 pm. It will be about how to organize your house! Come learn tips to keep your house in order. We will also have the super saturday craft sign-ups out for you to look at!!

Saturday, Oct. 17: Primary Sacrament program practice, at the church from 9-10 am. Please practice with your kids their parts and have them come to the practice and the program!

Sunday, Oct. 18: Primary Program during Sacrament Meeting!! R.S. Lesson- Joseph Smith Lesson #42: Family, the sweetest union for time and for eternity.

Super Saturday: We only have 2 Sundays left to sign up for the crafts! Take a look at the post Super Saturday and Super Saturday Update to look at all the crafts available and then sign up on Sunday or contact someone in the RS presidency or Enrichment committee. There will be plenty of other things to do besides crafts so make sure you write the day down on your calendar and come!

We hope you enjoyed General Conference Weekend!

Fall Cleanup and BBQ:

On Saturday (Oct. 10) will be the annual Logan 1st Ward Neighborhood Cleanup and BBQ! Meet at the church house at 9:00 am and bring your shovels and rakes! There will also be bookbags to be put together, and quilts to be tie so your service is needed! We'll be helping those in the neighborhood until 12:00 pm

If you or a neighbor is in help of help, please leave a comment (include a phone number- the comment will not be posted due to privacy concerns) and we'll contact you!

At 4:00 pm there will be a potluck at the Willow Valley Bldg Pavillion (825 N 200 W). The Ward will provide sloppy joes, if you're able to bring a salad, dessert or chips it'd be great. If you can't bring anything- still come!! There will be a softball game afterwards, all are invited to play.

Ward Temple Night:
Thursday (Oct. 8) is Ward Temple Night, meet in the temple chapel before 6:30 pm for the 6:30 session. Babysitting will be provided at the church from 6:00 pm.

General Conference Weekend

General Conference is this weekend (Oct. 3rd and 4th) so there is no church meetings at the church house this weekend.

Also, it's a new month so don't forget to do your visiting teaching for October! If you haven't done your visiting teaching for Sept, you still have a few days (but if you won't be able to get it done please let someone in the Relief Society presidency know).

Super Saturday is Nov. 7th!

Super Saturday will be Nov. 7th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, there will be a nursery. There are going to be a lot of different things to do, something for everyone!

We'll have lunch (Yumm!!), mini-classes (one for looking & feeling good and another on getting your finances together), quilts to tie, a "Finish-up" table for crafts you already have started but want time to finish, ideas for gifts for under $10, lots of crafts you can sign up for and of course, a lot of fun and time to socialize!

We've included pictures of the crafts available to sign up for, so if you're interested in any of them- make sure you sign up on Sunday (there are only 3 Sundays left before Super Saturday). Please pay Kaylynn in cash by Nov. 1st. Thanks!!

Crafts to sign up for (materials will be provided for a small charge):

Placemat Purses: $3.50 per purse. (Placemat colors will be on a first come first served basis) If you have your own placemat (& 1 yard of ribbon) you want to use, bring them and sew them there! Perfect for scriptures or as a purse!

Hairbows and Flowers: $0.30 for a single bow, $0.60 for the double cross bow. They are on clips or barrettes with a variety of colors.

I-Spy Bags: $2.00 (price may change a little, we're still gathering the inside) A bag filled with small plastic beads and tons of buttons, trinkets and other items with a vinyl window so kids can shake the bag to find a specific item (i.e. a puzzle piece, or star)

Mini-Muffin Tin Christmas Advent Calendar: Under $10.00.

A cute advent calendar that has magnetic covering. Mini-muffin tins are perfect for a piece of candy, scripture or anything else you want to put in.

Letter Blocks: $1.50 per block. Choose what letters you want (last name, child's name, family, love, etc.) Embellishments are not included (the ribbon, buttons etc) Another example is below.

File Folder Games: $1.50 per game (except the tithing game), if you want a copy of all 10 games the whole set is $16. Packets will include the folder, copies, and magnets. Laminating is not included.

Chunky Watches: We'll give you more info soon, but we'll have different colored watch faces & a couple of bands to choose from. These watches are very stylish, and the bands can be changed (includes lobster clips) so you can get multiple colors and change depending on your outfit or mood! We'll post again when we have all the info.

The Living Christ Proclamation: $4.95 per frame for the "Images of the Savior" art kit by Greg Olsen, you will need to bring an 11x14 frame with a 8x10 mat. We'll provide the scisors, tape and pattern.

General Relief Society Broadcast

This Saturday (Sept. 26) is the general Relief Society Broadcast! Our stake will have a free dinner starting at 5:00 pm and then the broadcast starts at 6:00 pm. So here is a little outline for Saturday.

How to get on the Official Ward Website

The Official Ward Website has the stake and ward calendar, ward list, and leadership directory. The following steps will help you navigate to the correct web site and sign in.

1) Go to www.lds.org
2) On the Church's web site is a blue "Welcome". To the left of the welcome is a list of items. The first item is "About the Church". Click on "About the Church" (See pic below)

3) A drop down list will appear, at the bottom of this list is "Stake and Ward Websites". Click on it. You will be taken to the Sign In page for the stake/ward website. (Click on the picture to see a larger view, then use your browser's back button to return to this post).

4) Here is where you enter your User name and Password and click on "Sign In". Instructions will follow to obtain your user name and password. (See step 6) The Logan 1st Ward web site will now appear.

5) The blue column on the left of the side of the page has Ward Calendar, Leadership Directory, News and Information and etc. The Green column on the right lists individual events at the Ward, Stake and Church level.
Obtaining User name and Password:
7) Under Sign In, click on "Obtain an LDS Account"
8) You will need your Membership Record Number and your Birth date. Your membership record is on your temple recommend or you can ask a ward clerk (or a member of the Bishopric) for this number.
9) Enter your membership record number and your birthday
10) Enter in the box provided, the letters or numbers that you see. (See black circle below)

11) Click on "Next Step" and continue by entering the information needed to create your own user name and password.
12) Click on "Create My LDS Account" Next, go to your email account. There, you should have an email from LDS Accounts. Check your spam folder if you don't see it after a minute. Open this email and click on "Complete Registration"
13) Your account is now created. Begin with step 1 to get to the Ward Website.

Enrichment Activity

Thursday, Sept. 17 there will be an enrichment activity at the church from 7-8 pm. (for a description of the difference between an activity and a meeting, check out the Sept. 4th post).

There will be conference activity kits to be made for all ages (little kids, school age, high school and adults). The kits are meant to help encourage kids (and adults) to pay attention and get the most out of conference, help grow spiritually, and entertain.

There will also be a quilt to be tied that night.

Ward Temple Night

Ward Temple Night is this Thursday! Please meet in the Logan Temple chapel for the 6:30 pm session. It has been crowded the past few times so you may want to show up a few minutes early (6:15 ish).

There is a nursery provided at the church. The babysitters will be there at 6:00 pm.

A Quick Note About Enrichment

About 3 years ago the church changed Enrichment meetings from being monthly to quarterly. The idea was that this would reduce the number of events that everyone is strongly encouraged to attend. But since there is still a need for socializing, learning, and uplifting activities for women in Relief Society, each ward is responsible for their own enrichment activities which are to be tailored to the needs and interests of the women in the ward. The activities can be as frequent or infrequent as the ward needs. For example, an enrichment activity can be a walking group that meets everyday, or a gardening group that only meets during the summer, or an oriental cooking group that meets once.

Since the Logan 1st Ward has a new, and amazing, enrichment committee, they are working on getting enrichment activities started. Each activity is meant as an opportunity for those who are interested--it's not expected for all to attend every activity.

The committee is working on having one activity every Thursday with each week having a different emphasis based on either the home, family, or personal needs. The second Thursday of every month will be ward temple night, with babysitting provided at the church. We will be posting more information on each activity as they are decided so you can be well informed!

The committee is always looking for ideas, and for people who will lead an enrichment activity. If there is an area you're interested in, please post a comment with the suggestion. Also post if you're willing to lead an activity!

Play at the Park is a way to get to know some of the parks in Logan, bring your kids and let them run around with other kids in the neighborhood. While the kids are playing, you can chat with other moms and have a social gathering of your own. This is a weekly activity, Tuesdays at 10:00 am. Just come meet at the designated park and stay as long as you'd like. The schedule and a map of each park is listed below.
